The next step in TV development has been made. Fast Internet is more available now than ever and, in the years to come, that trend will be continued – the connections will be faster and the prices will be less. The broadband approach enabled the expansion of video contents on Internet sites. Certain Web projects are fully dedicated to the regular delivery of video clips. Need we mention the popular portal YouTube at all, which quickly reached a position from which it can influence the trends and development of the Internet TV? Today it is not enough for people to read some text and to see a photo gallery; they want “moving pictures” as well. Because of that, many traditional websites enrich their standard contents with video clips in order to match the TV projects. On the other hand, we can see that TV stations, more and more often and more or less successfully, transfer their programmes into new medium.
From all this, we can clearly see the logic of initiating the etv-web.tv service, behind which stands the ITTV Company. It is a company with rich TV and production experience, known to broader public through the e-TV show broadcast by the FOX television. The ITTV team concluded that now is the right moment to provide viewers with an alternative to the traditional TV form. Instead of chasing the broadcasting schedule, thus depriving themselves of other activities, they will be able to watch the most important video contents in the IT field every day, at any time, from anywhere and as many times as they want. Since this is a very ambitious and long-term project, the service will be developed in stages. The idea is to set up between 3 and 5 new reports each day in the first stage, in Serbian to start with. The English version is envisaged for the second stage. The purpose is that the fully operative etv-web.tv offers daily content updates, with a special coverage of significant events (fairs, conferences etc.) in the country and worldwide. The video reports from those events would be at the disposal of viewers almost from the very moment of their occurrence. In that way, the etv-web.tv service would become a channel for broadcasting the most important IT news and info 24 hours a day, seven days a week (24/7).
It was planned to make a wide basis of clients, at first consisting primarily of business users: top managers, sales managers, company IT managers, IT equipment distributors etc. Every day, users will receive a newsletter, from which they can see the contents of the show. A very brief text will be accompanied by photographs from the reports selected for that day, as well as links to those reports. By simply clicking on the link, the viewers will be able to see the report. All the reports are kept in the archives and it is also possible to view content from the previous days and months. What is important to point out, and what additionally distinguishes the etv-web.tv service from other similar attempts, is the fact that a team of experienced TV authors stands behind all the created content. The ITTV Company decision that etv-web.tv should make its debut at the CeBIT fair in Hanover is also interesting. The desire is, among other things, to show that this project will not be limited just to Serbia; it will be offered to the users across the region and, eventually, the world.
